Decree-Law No. 93/2019 creating the Multi-municipal water supply and sanitation system in the Algarve Region, assigning the related exploitation and management concession to Águas do Algarve, S.A, under a public and exclusive service regime.

This Decree-Law, consisting of 26 articles, creates the Multi-municipal water supply and sanitation system in the Algarve Region, and assigns the related exploitation and management concession to Águas do Algarve, S.A, under a public and exclusive service regime. The system covers the abstraction, treatment and supply of water for public consumption and the collection, treatment and disposal of domestic effluents resulting from the mixing with industrial or rainwater effluents called urban effluents and the receipt of effluents from septic tank cleaning, which comply with the provisions of the operating and service regulations for the wastewater sanitation activities in force in the system, as well as their treatment and rejection, activities that must be carried out on a regular basis. The system results from the aggregation of the multi-municipal water supply system of the Algarve, created by Decree-Law No. 285/2003 of 8 November and the multi-municipal sanitation system of the Algarve, created by Decree-Law no. 167/2000 of 5 August.
