Abstract
This Order establishes the regime applicable to authorizations to catch deep-sea species, listed in Annex I of Regulation (EU) 2016/2336 of the European Parliament and the Council of 14 December 2016. This Order applies to fishing vessels registered in ports on the mainland and in the Autonomous Regions, provided they are licensed to operate in areas other than the subareas of the respective Autonomous Regions. Deep-sea species, in quantities greater than 100 kg per trip, is subject to an authorization to be granted by the Directorate-General for Natural Resources, Security and Maritime Services (DGRM) under the terms of article 5 of the Regulation, of the following types: a) Deep-sea Fishing Authorization"; b) Fishing permit for by-catch of deep-sea species. The total fishing capacity of the Portuguese fleet to be authorized cannot exceed 5,358 GT and 15,956 KW, corresponding to the highest value of fishing capacity determined under the terms of article 6 of the Regulation, including the fleet licensed by the bodies of the Autonomous Regions within the scope of their competences. Article 5 deals with fishing permits for by-catch of deep-sea species.
