Regional Legislative Decree No. 33/2023/A creating the maritime ecotax fee.

This Regional Legislative Decree creates a regional fee, called the maritime ecotax, which is due by passengers without tax domicile in the autonomous region, who disembark on a cruise ship with a stopover at the Region's terminals. The maritime ecotax aims at improving environmental conservation and the qualification of the Azores destination. The inter-island passenger maritime transport service covered by public service obligations is exempt from the application of this fee.
