Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 103/2018 creating the National Council for Food and Nutritional Security.

This Resolution of the Council of Ministers creates the National Council for Food and Nutritional Security (CONSANP). CONSAP has the following objectives: a) Contribute to the realization of the Human Right to Adequate Food; b) Contribute to an integrated vision of matters relating to food and nutrition security, ensuring convergence, coherence and social participation within the scope of the adoption of the respective instruments. In particular, CONSANP is responsible to perform the following activities: a) Develop and approve the National Strategy for Food and Nutritional Security in conjunction with other national related strategies, namely the Integrated Strategy for the Promotion of Healthy Food (EIPAS) and the National Strategy to Combat Food Waste; b) Ensure social participation in the assessment of measures aimed at food and nutrition security; c) Assess and monitor the implementation of the National Strategy for Food and Nutritional Security; d) Propose the adoption of necessary measures to fulfill the obligations assumed in the international context regarding the Right to Food; e) Participate in the Food and Nutritional Security Council of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries; f) Encourage the development of Food and Nutritional Security at the municipal level; g) Promote the adoption and dissemination of good practices in terms of Food and Nutritional Security; h) Promote awareness on Food and Nutritional Security, carrying out studies, organization of events and production of informative materials.
