Chapter 2401-51 Public Water Supply and Drinking Water Regulations.

These Regulations, promulgated by the Republic of Palau Environmental Quality Protection Board pursuant to the authority granted it by the Republic of Palau Environmental Quality Protection Act found in Title 24 of the Palau National Code, apply to all public water systems in the Republic of Palau and provide for establishing certain minimum standards and requirements necessary to protect public health and safety, and to ensure that public water systems are protected from contamination and are safe for human consumption. The Regulations define the following relevant terms: bottled water company; certified operator; distribution system; drinking water quality standards; human consumption; maximum contaminant level; potable water; public water system; public rainwater catchment system; waterborne disease outbreak. The Regulations concern the following matters: right of the authorised representatives of the Board to entry and inspect any establishment, facility, or any other property or premises under the control of a public water system; drinking water quality control; monitoring requirements and performance testing; design and construction requirements of public water systems; protection of conservation areas; drinking water materials and additives; sanitary surveys; certification of public water system operators; classification of public water systems; bottled water companies; disinfection of groundwater and rainwater; supply of drinking water during emergencies; enforcement measures and penalties for violations.
