Abstract
This Act lays down provisions on the requirements for foreign investment approval certificate and criteria for evaluation of application for a foreign investment certificate; the establishment and functions of Foreign Investment Board; business activities reserved exclusively for citizens and business enterprises in which citizens have an ownership interest, including commercial fishing for other than highly migratory species; minimum amount for foreign investment; modification, suspension or revocation of foreign investment approval certificate; and offences and penalties. The application for a foreign investment approval certificate shall contain information, such as specific economic and social programs the applicant intends to implement for Palau to develop and conserve the land and marine resources. In case the Board grants a foreign investment approval certificate, the terms and conditions to be stipulated under the foreign investment approval certificate include the scope of utilization of domestic raw materials and natural resources.
