Abstract
This Law consisting of 17 articles aims at protecting public electrical and water installations from the following (i) any act of construction, excavation, extension, elevation, demolition, or expansion of a building; (ii) planting or quarrying wooden trees; (iii) any other similar work. It is necessary to notify the Ministry of Electricity and Water by registered letter of the work intended to be carried out at least one month before commencing it, to obtain a permit. The Ministry may authorize the applicant to carry out or modify the works mentioned in the notification, while obligating him to take the special precautions it deems necessary to protect the public electrical and water installations located at or adjacent to the work site. The Ministry of Electricity and Water, in cooperation with the Ministries of Public Works, Transportation, and Municipal Affairs, and the Interior, sets a list of the general preventive precautions necessary to protect electrical and water installations (art.5).
