Law No.11 of 2010 amending some Provisions of Law No.4 of 1983 on the Exploitation and Conservation of Living Aquatic Resources in Qatar.

This Law consisting of 4 articles aims at amending some provisions of the Law of 1983, in particular (i) responsible body becomes the Ministry of Environment; (ii) a Committee for Living Aquatic Resources is established at the Ministry and will include among its members 4 representatives of fishermen from fishing areas selected by the Minister; (iii) it is prohibited practice fishing without a licence from the competent department; (iv) fishing terms and controls for amateur fishermen shall be decided by the Minister; (v) it is banned dumping into fishing or inland waters or onto the seabed of any waste without written approval from the competent bodies; (vi) aquaculture shall be prohibited without a license from the competent department.
Two articles are added. Article 4 bis regards the competencies of the Committee in developing and promoting the marine fishing sector in order to contribute to realizing food security and the conservation, development and rational exploitation of living aquatic resources. Article 12 bis regulates insurance commitments by the owner of the fishing vessel towards the vessel and the crew working on board.
