Abstract
This National Action Plan provides for cross-sectoral cooperation including human, animal, food and environmental sectors at local, regional and international levels to combat antimicrobial resistance within the One Health Framework in the State of Qatar. The Plan is divided into three sections: 1. Summary of Achievements and Situational Analysis; 2. Strategic Objectives And Priority Areas For Action; and 3. Implementation.
Section 1 contains the summary of achievements of the National Action Plan (2018-2022) for each of the objective contained therein. Section 2 lays down the strategic objectives of the Plan which are as follows: 1. Enhance the existing multisectoral governance structure for AMR program; 2. Develop nationally integrated and coordinated One Health antimicrobial resistance and consumption surveillance systems; 3. Develop and promote interlinked informed national infection prevention and control programs across sectors including IPC in human health and biosecurity and biosafety in animal health and food safety; 4. Optimize the use of antimicrobial medicine in human and animal health and other sectors; 5. Enhance the awareness and change behaviour targeting antimicrobial use; and 6. Promote AMR research in alignment with National Health Strategy and in partnership with national, regional, and international institutions. The actions under each of these strategic objectives are laid down. Section 3 of the Plan provides for budgeting, monitoring and evaluation and emphasizes on the One Health approach to tackle AMR in the State of Qatar.
