Abstract
The purpose of the Agreement is to intensify and develop in the future the cooperation between the Parties to develop and promote the trans-European waterway Danube, keeping in mind given its potential and major importance from an economic and ecological point of view. The area of cooperation shall include: (a) maintenance and development of the waterway infrastructure: cooperation between the two Parties, especially in the fields of supervision, maintenance, reconstruction, rehabilitation, modernization and integrated engineering of the waterways, taking into account European legislation and standards; (b) information technology: cooperation regarding the implementation of harmonized Information Services for river navigation; (c) intermodal services: active promotion of the development of intermodal services for liners between Romania and the Upper Danube, considering the major potential and economic dynamics of the port of Constanta and other Romanian Danube and maritime ports, as well as the internal ports located along the Danube and inside their countries; and (d) promotion and development of activities: cooperation in order to promote the more frequent use of the Danube waterway by the European industry within the objectives of the European transport policy.

Entry into force notes
This Agreement will enter into force on the date of receipt of the notification by which the Romanian side will inform the Austrian side about the completion of the internal procedures necessary for its entry into force.
Notes
This Agreement will remain valid on a continuity basis until the objectives of the initiative are met. At the request of either party, this Agreement will be revised no later than 5 years after its entry into force. Each of the two parties may terminate this Agreement by a written notification to the other party. The termination of the Agreement will become effective starting from the date of receipt of the written notification by the other party.
