Abstract
The Parties will collaborate in the field of environmental protection on the basis of equality, reciprocity and common benefit. The Parties will take the necessary measures to protect the environment against risks, in general, and those that may affect human health and natural resources, in particular. The Parties will collaborate in the following environmental sectors: (a) horizontal legislation: development and implementation of environmental assessment mechanisms and instruments (environmental impact assessment at global, regional and national level, environmental audit, strategic environmental assessment and environmental management system); (b) risk management: warning and response procedures, in emergency situations, generated by floods, dangerous hydrometeorological phenomena, accidental pollution of the environment; (c) nature protection: exchange of information and cooperation in the field of planning and management of protected areas; (d) air quality: general standards and criteria for all types of anthropogenic air pollutants; (e) the marine environment and the management of coastal resources; (f) solid waste management, including hazardous waste; (g) management of dangerous chemical substances; (h) noise: reducing noise pollution by applying and controlling the application of legislative provisions and standards in this field; and (i) climate change: collaboration within the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM).

Entry into force notes
This Agreement will enter into force in the day following the date of receipt of the last written notification by which the Parties inform each other, through diplomatic channels, of the fulfillment of the internal legal procedures for its entry into force.
Notes
This Agreement will remain in force for a period of 5 years; after that, its validity will be automatically extended for new periods of 5 years, unless either Party notifies the other Party of the intention to terminate this Agreement 3 months before the expiration of the validity period.
