Abstract
The purpose of the Agreement is cooperation in the field of sustainable management of transboundary waters for the mutual resolution of all aspects in which both or one of the parties are interested, as well as establishing the organizational conditions, institutional and economic cooperation. Sustainable water management means the integrated management of surface and underground water resources in a way that ensures: (a) water in sufficient quantity and of appropriate quality for all uses; (b) water in sufficient quantity and of appropriate quality for the maintenance, protection and improvement of aquatic ecosystems as well as by achieving environmental objectives in accordance with the requirements of the Water Framework Directive; (c) prevention and protection of waters against accidental pollution; (d) prevention and protection against the effects of dangerous hydrological phenomena (floods, drought and others); and (e) an effective control of the water regime and hydrotechnical constructions. In order to achieve the purpose of this Agreement, the parties establish the following objectives of collaboration: (a) achieving the good status of transboundary waters, including a good ecological potential of heavily modified and artificial waterbodies, in accordance with the Water Framework Directive; (b) pollution control and prevention of deterioration of the state of waters; (c) realization and updating of basin management plans developed by each party on its own territory according to the Water Framework Directive and in the field of application of the Agreement; (d) realization and updating of the management plan of flood risk developed by each party on its own territory according to the Flood Directive and the agreement in the field of application of this Agreement; (e) prevention, mitigation, limitation and control of the effects of dangerous hydrological phenomena on transboundary waters, including accidental pollution; (f) development of systems of monitoring and assessment of the state of transboundary waters and tracking the operational safety of hydrotechnical constructions on them; (g) ensuring the sustainable use and protection of transboundary waters and aquatic ecosystems; and (h) developing, coordinating and implementing joint actions and projects, including research in the fields that are the subject of this Agreement.

Entry into force notes
This Agreement will enter into force in force on the date of receipt of the last written notification by which the parties inform each other through diplomatic channels of the fulfillment of the internal legal procedures necessary for its entry into force, in accordance with the national legislation of the Parties.
Notes
This Agreement is concluded by the Parties for a period of 10 years. The validity of this agreement will be automatically extended for periods of 5 years, if none of the Parties, through diplomatic channels, notifies in writing, at least 6 months before the expiration of validity, of the intention to denounce it.
