Abstract
The Parties have agreed, in order to reduce environmental pollution and for the protection of nature, to develop and support cooperation regarding programs and special projects related to the transfer of knowledge and technology in the field of environmental protection. The main sectors of cooperation in the field of environment will be the following: (a) harmonization of national legislation with the European Union's environmental acquis; (b) development of common programs for the application of regional and international conventions on environmental protection, to which Romania and the Republic of Turkey are parties; (c) nature conservation; (d) industrial and domestic waste water management; (e) reduction of air pollution caused by the production of electricity and industry; (f) prevention of pollution of the Black Sea; (g) environmental impact assessment; (h) solid waste management; (i) management of hazardous chemical substances; (j) protection of natural lakes; and (k) soil management.

Entry into force notes
This Agreement will enter into force on the day following the date of receipt of the last written notification by which the parties inform each other of the fulfillment of the national legal provisions for its entry into force.
Notes
This Agreement will remain in force for a period of 5 years, after which its validity will be extended for other periods of 5 years, through a written notification submitted by one of the parties to the other party 3 months before the end of the 5 years of implementation of this Agreement.
