Agreement of November 26, 2001 between the Government of Romania and the Government of Sweden regarding cooperation in the field of energy and the environment.

The Parties will promote, within the framework of national legislation and regulations and taking into account international obligations, the development of cooperation in the field of energy and the environment through the implementation, by companies and other directly interested parties, of projects in Romania, among other projects such as provided in the Annex to this agreement. Priority will be given to the following areas of cooperation: (a) the development of energy policy, including energy efficiency, and the development and expansion of regional networks of infrastructure in the field of energy; (b) development of the legal and regulatory framework and regional cooperation; (c) modernization of energy resources and infrastructure, using the best environmental protection technologies and best practices; (d) development of the energy market, of specific operating tools, risk management, operational modeling systems in the energy field; (e) environmental protection, especially in the field of management and operation of residual water and waste; and (f) cooperation in the implementation of projects to reduce the impact on the environment, in accordance with Art. 6 of the Kyoto Protocol.
