Decree on Importation of Hazardous Wastes.

This Decree concerns the importation of wastes and residues in Romania well as other items that are dangerous to the health of the population and environment. Article 1 forbids the processed or unprocessed importation of wastes and residues into Romania. Certain categories of waste such as ores and ferrous metals may be imported on the basis of importation licences issued by the ministry of the Environment (art. 3). The waste categories exempted from these provisions are listed in appendix 1. The appendix may be revised at any time with the approval of the Ministry of the Environment and the government. Failure to respect the importation regulations may result in civil or penal responsibility (art. 12).
