Government Decision No. 1.559 regarding validation of the procedure for placing on the market of plant protection products and their use on the territory of Romania.

The procedure for the approval of plant protection products with a view to placing them on the market and their use on the territory of Romania is established according to the provisions of this Government Decision. Only plant protection products approved by the National Commission for the Approval of Plant Protection Products can be placed on the national market. Plant protection products shall be intended active substances and preparations containing one or more active substances that are presented in the form in which they are delivered to the user and are intended for: (a) the protection of plants or plant products against all harmful organisms or the prevention of the action of these organisms; (b) exerting an action on the vital processes of plants, other than a nutritional action; (c) ensuring the conservation of plant products to the extent that these substances or products are not subject to other legal regulations regarding conservation agents; (d) destruction of unwanted plants; and (e) destroying parts of plants, stopping or preventing unwanted plant growth. The label will indicate whether the product is prohibited for use by certain categories of users, depending on the toxicity group of the product. The labels will be written in Romanian. The National Commission for the Approval of Plant Protection Products has the obligation to present an annual report, before August 1 of each year, to the member states of the European Union and the European Commission regarding the results of the inspection measures taken in the previous year.
