Agreement
Abstract
The competent authorities of the states of the two contracting parties will inspect and supervise, on their own territories, crops, forests, uncultivated land, plant products and other articles regulated, to detect regulated harmful organisms. The two contracting parties will ensure the application of appropriate measures to prevent the entry of regulated harmful organisms into the territory of the other contracting party, as a result of exports of plants, plant products and plant material. The competent authorities of the two contracting parties undertake: (a) to inform each other, in writing, about significant changes in the phytosanitary status, such as the appearance and dissemination on their respective territories of regulated harmful organisms, as well as on the protection measures that are applied to them; and (b) to pay special attention to the parasites included in the national list of regulated harmful organisms of each of the two contracting parties and to inform each other about all the changes made to this lists. In order to prevent the introduction and/or dissemination of regulated harmful organisms on the territory of one of the contracting parties, the plants and plant products shipped by one contracting party to the country of the other contracting party must be accompanied by an international phytosanitary certificate drawn up by the phytosanitary authority of the exporting country, according to the model provided in the International Plant Protection Convention. For each shipment, the phytosanitary certificate will attest that the exported material corresponds to the phytosanitary standards of the importing country and that it is free of prohibited pests and diseases.
