Abstract
The scope of this Sectoral Plan is to ensure food safety and food security under the conditions of sustainable management of natural resources, including climate, soil, water and biodiversity in agriculture. In particular the document stresses the necessity of potato growing of local species as organic production. It also envisages expansion of growing of medicinal plants, fruit and vegetable growing, and increase of sugar production.
The document emphasizes the necessity of promotion of production, distribution and trade of local species of vegetables from protected areas (tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, melons and beans) with the use of innovative methods and biological control agents in order to improve resilience of local species to adverse climatic conditions.
Innovative methods and technologies include the system of regulation of parameters of microclimate and application of special requirements for nutrients, warning of disease and pest attacks. It is foreseen creation of new model experimental protected areas, in order to mitigate the effect of climate phenomena extremes such as temperature extremes, frost, scorching heat, wind and strong insolation.
In the field of animal husbandry, the Sectoral Plan emphasizes improvement of local breeds, in particular of cattle, sheep and goats, but also beekeeping and fish production, improvement of veterinary medicine and development and manufacturing locally of drugs. The document envisages the creation of gene bank of local breeds.
