Government Ordinance No. 4 regarding the reorganization of the national system for the classification of cattle, pig and sheep carcasses, as well as the monitoring, control and reporting of market prices of carcasses and live animals.

The operation of the National Classification System, the primary registration of carcass classification results and their prices, processing, monitoring, control and reporting of this data is carried out in accordance with the provisions of European regulations in the field of carcass classification and reporting market prices of carcasses and live animals. The National Classification System ensures the mandatory application of the Community grids for the classification of carcasses according to European regulations in the field of carcass classification and national legislation in force in order to improve market transparency and to establish prices comparable with market rates for carcasses both at national and European level, these constituting the basis for the management of market measures and for the application of the intervention mechanisms of the European Commission in this field. The national classification system aims to monitor the prices of market of carcasses at the gate of slaughterhouse and live animals, the objective grading of carcasses in slaughterhouses, according to the price grid, in order to make a fair payment for animals delivered for slaughter by suppliers/livestock breeders. The national grading system collects, processes and holds information on the identification of economic operators, animals/carcasses and information on the application of the classification grids. Based on this information, national meat market price reports are drawn up, for which the competent authority must take the necessary measures and ensure that they are relevant to the national market, accurate and complete, before being reported to the European Commission.
