Abstract
This Regulation establishes the competent veterinary and sanitary authorities responsible for application of, compliance with and sanctioning of infringements of veterinary and food safety rules. In particular, food safety rules shall be related to products of animal origin intended for human consumption and veterinary rules animal health, prevention of spreading of animal diseases and transmission thereof to human beings. Applicable sanctions shall include veterinary seizure, prohibition of marketing and movement of live animals, products of animal and non-animal origin subject to veterinary, sanitary and food safety supervision and control, restriction and confiscation of foodstuffs unfit for human consumption, destruction and disposal of animal waste by incineration and burial, and mandatory slaughtering of infected farm animals. Non-compliance with veterinary and food safety rules shall entail application of sanctions, penalties, including fines, legal and administrative procedures.
