Abstract
This Law regulates the content of trans fatty acids in food products intended for human consumption, in order to ensure a high level of food protection for consumers. It applies to all food products intended for the final consumer, including food products delivered by public catering units and food products intended to be supplied to them. Food products that naturally contain trans fatty acids in animal fats are excluded from the scope of this Law. Economic operators in the food sector have the obligation to introduce on the market food products with a maximum TFA content of 2 g/100 g of fat content. The National Veterinary Sanitary and Food Safety Authority, the National Authority for Consumer Protection and the Ministry of Health periodically carry out official controls for the products regulated by this Law. Official controls are carried out at all stages of the food chain, depending on the risks, in compliance with the provisions the legislation in force and in accordance with the official control programs/plans in the field of food safety, financed from the state budget. Foodstuffs not complying with the provisions of this Law shall be immediately withdrawn from the market.
