Multilateral Agreement between the states of South-Eastern Europe for the application of the Convention on environmental impact assessment in a cross-border context.

The Parties will develop guidelines regarding the application of this Agreement based on, among others, the following elements: framing, notification, confirmation of participation, transmission of information, development of environmental impact assessment documentation and its distribution, public participation, consultations between the Parties, decision and transmission of final decision, post-project analysis. The interested Parties may establish one or more joint working groups for further communication and exchange of information between the interested Parties. In order to ensure the alignment of this process with the terms of the national procedure regarding the assessment of the impact on the environment of the Party of origin, the interested Parties will try to submit the documentation regarding the assessment of the impact on the environment to the authorities and the public of the affected party in parallel with its submission to the authorities and the public of the Party of origin. The documentation regarding the environmental impact assessment will contain at least the information described in Annex no. II to the Convention.
