Abstract
This Regulation on food safety regards caseins and caseinates intended for human consumption. Edible acid casein means a dairy product obtained by separating, washing and drying the precipitated acid curd from skimmed milk and/or from other dairy products. Edible curd casein means a dairy product obtained by separating, washing and drying the curd from milk defatted and/or other milk products; the curd is obtained by reaction clot or other coagulation enzymes. Edible caseinates means a dairy product obtained by the reaction of edible casein or casein curd edible granulated with neutralizing agents, followed by drying. The aforesaid products can be marketed only if complying with food safety standards. Packaging and labelling must bear the following inscriptions: (a) the name of the dairy products; (b) the net quantity of products, expressed in kilograms or grams; (c) the name or business name and address of the operator in the sector under whose name or trade name is marketed the product; (d) in case of imported products from third countries, the name of the country of origin; and (d) identification batch of products and the production date.
