Order No. 132 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development validating the Procedure for verifying the documentation for registering a geographical indication and acquiring the protection of spirits.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, through the specialized direction, verifies the documentation for the registration of a geographical indication and the acquisition of the protection of spirits. The documentation includes the following: (a) the application for the registration of a geographical indication and the acquisition of protection of spirits, provided in Annex 1; (b) the act of association, regardless of the legal form of the group of producers or processors of spirits; the identity document for natural persons or the constitutive document of the legal entity that proves the fulfillment of the cumulative conditions; (c) declaration on their own responsibility that the group represents the producers or processors in the defined geographical area, indicated in the specification; (d) the specification which must contain listed elements; (e) the single document published on the website www.madr.ro, data, documents or other evidence that highlight the connection with the geographical area, through which a certain quality, reputation or other characteristic of that spirit may be attributed mainly to its geographical origin; (g) data, documents, bibliographic references or other evidence from which the specific elements of the product or the production method result; (h) color map of adequate size that allows the precise delimitation of the production area or borders established; (i) self-responsible declaration certifying the authenticity of the information provided, according to Annex 2; (j) in the situation where spirits certification bodies are recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, a copy of the contract concluded with a certification body is submitted to verify the conformity of the reality of the data contained in the specifications of the alcoholic drink; and (k) other data and information to support the acquisition of protection.
