This Technical Regulation establishes the procedure for cleaning, disinfection and sterilization in public and private sanitary units, evaluation of the effectiveness of cleaning and disinfection procedures performed within them, recommended procedures for hand disinfection according to the level of risk, and methods of evaluation of the sterilization process and its efficiency control. When purchasing biocidal products, public and private sanitary units must request the approval issued by the National Commission for Biocidal Products (CNPB). When purchasing biocidal products, classified as medical substances, used by public health units and emergency medicine and public health programs within the Ministry of Health, private sanitary units, they must request: (a) proof of the registration of the product as a medical device; (b) CE marking certificate, with classification in the medical substance category; (c) the manufacturer's recommendations regarding the product's effectiveness and indications for use; and (d) classification in classes II a and II b.
