Abstract
Live animals imported from third countries are subject to preventive quarantine rules for a minimum of 30 days; for quarantine prophylactic measures, the owner of the animal farm is obliged to have places specially arranged for this purpose. Live animals originating from intra-community trade for growth and reproduction are subject to isolation in a separate space from other animals in exploitation, applying a waiting period/prohibition of movement of 30 days in the case of pigs and 21 days in the case of the other species. The owners and keepers of animals are obliged to notify the sanitary-veterinary and regional food safety departments, and the municipality of Bucharest, the intention to introduce animals from intra-community trade and import into the holding, prior to arrival of animals, as well as the possible date of entry into the farm. The clinical examination accepted and settled by the regional sanitary-veterinary and food safety department, and the municipality of Bucharest can be done based on a written decision of the executive director, who establishes the area where the clinical examination is held, the frequency and the necessary documents for the settlement in the following situations: (a) in case of suspected of contamination (infection) in animals; and (b) in case of confirmation of the disease in animals from the outbreak, from the area of surveillance and protection specific to each disease. Examinations and laboratory tests necessary for the export of animals to third countries will be done taking into account the conditions imposed in the certificates sent by the veterinary administrations of the respective country. The anthrax vaccine and the rabies vaccine must ensure post-vaccination immunity for a period of at least 12 months.
