Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Republic of Serbia in the field of water.

By the Decree No. 2018/11508 of the Council of Ministers of 5 March 2018, the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Republic of Serbia in the field of water has been approved. The Parties agree upon cooperation on (i) development of existing water supply facilities, (ii) prevention of wastewater pollution through application of wastewater treatment technologies, (iii) operation, maintenance and management as well as modernization of irrigation systems, (iv) freshwater fisheries, (v) water resources management, (vi) land use planning, (vii) supply of safe drinking water and water savings, (viii) use of drought resistant and less water consuming plants and production of high quality seeds, (ix) sustainable water management, (x) protection and management of river basins, (xi) flood and drought risk management, (xii) monitoring and protection of water quality, and (xiii) climate change adaptation. The Parties shall develop cooperation by exchange of scientific and technical information, researchers, consultants and experts, and by conducting joint projects. The Parties may organize workshops, meetings, seminars, training programs and study visits. A Joint Committee shall be established to ensure efficient implementation of cooperation under this Agreement. This Agreement may be amended by mutual written consent. The dispute may be solved through negotiation. This Agreement shall be valid for one year and may be extended for successive period of one year unless terminated by written notice requiring six months.
