Law on the health safety status of foodstuffs and general use items.

This Law here regulates the necessary health safety conditions that must be comply by all articles of general use intended for human use and consumption (produced in the Republic of Serbia or imported or exported for placing on the market), including the conditions for exercising the control over such compliance (various inspection provisions), as well as the obligations and responsibilities of subjects involved in activities that are related directly and/or indirectly with foodstuff and general human use items.
The provisions of this Law are also meant and will further apply to all raw materials and additives aimed for direct production of articles of general use; to general-purpose articles temporarily imported for processing, finishing and processing; as well as to all facilities in contact with food/foodstuffs.
The major purpose of provisions stipulated by this Law is to ensure and implement a high level of protection of life and health of people and to protect the interests of consumers (consumer protection principles).
The Law is divided into XIII Chapters and 54 articles, including offences and related penalties (see chapter XII).
