Abstract
This Regulation, based on the provisions of the Serbian Water Law, provides for the national river sediment extraction plan, which is part of this publication (Annex). The river sediment extraction plan determines the planned locations for extracting river sediments with obtaining the conditions and planned quantity of river sediments for extraction, locations where river sediment extraction is not allowed, as well as graphic representations made up of map atlases, for rivers Danube, Sava, Drina, Velika Morava, South Morava and West Morava. The management of river sediment and its use requires a planning approach, in which one should strive to protect water bodies that are formed in river sediment, preserve the ecosystem and the ambient characteristics of river flows, but it should also be borne in mind that sand and gravel are needed in construction and have an economic importance in the Republic of Serbia.
