Abstract
This Regulation prescribes the methods of sampling and testing of food for the purpose of determining the presence and levels of trace elements, process contaminants, mycotoxins, nitrates, dioxins, dioxin-like and non-dioxin-like PCBs, erucic acid and perfluoroalkyl substances. Food that is sampled during official control for the purpose of determining the presence and levels of certain contaminants is regulated by a special regulation relating to maximum concentrations of certain contaminants in food. Sampling methods, sample preparation, sample testing methods and reporting of results and their interpretation are all given in the Annexes of this text.

This text entered into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette (published on 24 December 2024), except for the special requirements prescribed in Annex 2 - Methods of sampling and testing of food samples for the official control of mycotoxin levels, Part 3, Section G) Subsection G.2.A, which shall apply from 1 January 2029, and the special requirements prescribed in Annex 2 - Methods of sampling and testing of food samples for the official control of mycotoxin levels, Part 3, Section G) Subsection G.2., which shall apply until 1 January 2029.
