Abstract
This Regulation prescribes special hygiene conditions for fresh or frozen raspberry and blackberry fruit at all stages of trade. Raspberry and blackberry fruit, whether fresh or frozen, may not be placed on the market if, in accordance with the law governing food safety, it is unsafe, i.e. if it is harmful to human health and if it is not suitable for human consumption. Raspberry and blackberry fruit is not safe if it contains: 1) plant protection products, biocides or pollutants or their metabolites that exceed the maximum permitted amount of residues or their use is not approved or permitted; 2) a pathogen that may be harmful to human health. Raspberry and blackberry fruit intended for export must meet the requirements in accordance with food regulations, unless otherwise requested by the competent authority of the importing country or unless otherwise determined by the regulations, standards and codes of practice in force in the importing country.
