Abstract
Based on the provisions of the Law on planning system of the Republic of Serbia, this Strategy for the Social Inclusion of Roma and Roma Women in the Republic of Serbia for the period from the year 2016 until the year 2025 was adopted on 3 March 2016, as a continuation of the previous Strategy for Improving the Status of Roma 2009-2015. The Strategy is harmonized with the Poznań Declaration and the EU Strategic Framework for Roma. The Republic of Serbia joined the Declaration of the partners of the Western Balkans on the integration of Roma men and women within the European Union enlargement process. The strategy is based on existing strategic, legal and institutional resources. Institutional resources for the preparation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Strategy are represented by the national Coordination Body for Improving the Position and Social Inclusion of Roma population. The right to health, according to international human rights standards, is not limited only to the right to health care. This right includes all those socioeconomic factors that are necessary to be able to lead a healthy life. In international law, these factors are considered socioeconomic determinants of health and include nutrition, housing, drinking water, adequate sanitary conditions, safe and healthy working conditions, as well as a healthy environment. Therefore, in order to work on improving the health of Roma men and women, it is necessary to work on improving socioeconomic determinants, which is one of the tasks of this strategy.
