Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Iceland on cooperation in the sphere of geothermal energy.

The Parties shall carry out cooperation in accordance with the following principles: (a) ensuring sovereign rights of each Party to its geothermal resources; (b) expansion of access on non-discriminatory basis to international markets of geothermal energy; (c) transparency of all the sectors of international geothermal energy market; (d) access to geothermal energy technologies and access to technologies; and (e) performance of infrastructural projects important for global and regional energy safety. The cooperation shall be carried out in the following forms: (a) joint projects of geothermal energy generation; (b) construction of power plants generating electric energy from geothermal energy sources; (c) joint seminars, symposia and exhibitions; and (d) training of staff.
