Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Venezuela on cooperation in the sphere of nuclear energy.

The scope of this Agreement shall be construction and operation on the territory of Venezuela of research nuclear reactor for manufacturing of radionuclides to be used for peaceful purposes in industry and medicine, and also construction of a nuclear power plant. The Parties have agreed to develop jointly infrastructure of the nuclear power plant and, in particular, to perform the following activities: (a) training of specialists; (b) ensure nuclear and radiation safety and security; (c) ensure environmental protection; (d) perform radioactive waste management; (e) perform joint research in the sphere of nuclear energy; and (f) ensure licensing of nuclear sites.
