Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Ghana on cooperation in the field of the use of atomic energy for peaceful purposes.

The Parties shall develop cooperation in the field of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes in accordance with the needs and priorities of their national nuclear programs. Cooperation shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of this Agreement and the laws of the Parties. The Parties shall cooperate in the following areas: (a) assistance in the creation and improvement of the atomic energy infrastructure of the Republic of Ghana in accordance with international recommendations; (b) design and construction of power and research nuclear reactors, including water desalination plants and particle accelerators; (c) exploration and development of uranium deposits, exploration of the Republic of Ghana's mineral resource base for the development of its nuclear industry; (d) provision of nuclear fuel cycle services for nuclear power plants and research reactors, including the supply of nuclear fuel for energy and research nuclear reactors, the return of irradiated nuclear fuel of Russian origin; (e) management of radioactive waste; and (f) regulation of nuclear and radiation safety, supervision of physical protection of nuclear facilities, radiation sources, storage facilities for nuclear materials and radioactive substances.
