Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space for peaceful purposes.

This Agreement establishes the legal and organizational framework for the formation and development of cooperation programs between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Nicaragua in the exploration and use of outer space and the practical application of space equipment and space technologies for peaceful purposes. Cooperation under this Agreement can be carried out in the following areas: (a) space science and exploration of outer space, including astrophysical studies and the study of planets; (b) distant zoning of the Earth from outer space; (c) satellite communications, satellite television and radio broadcasting and related information technologies and services; (d) satellite navigation and related technologies and services; (e) space geodesy and meteorology; (f) space materials science; (g) space biology and medicine; (h) manned space flights; (j) provision and use of start-up services; (k) use of the results of joint activities to create new space technology and technologies in other sectors of the economy; and (l) training and retraining of specialists involved in space activities. Other areas of cooperation are determined by mutual written consent of the Parties or their competent authorities as necessary.
