Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of Turkmenistan on cooperation in the field of maritime transport.

The objectives of this Agreement shall be as follows: (a) regulation and development of relations in the field of sea transport between the two states; (b) ensuring effective coordination in shipping; and (c) promotion of trade and economic relations between the two states. The Parties support and develop effective business relations between the competent authorities, in particular through consultations and information exchange. The Parties also encourage the development of contacts between shipping and shipping-related organizations of both states. Cooperation shall be performed in the following areas: (a) ensuring the full and effective use of the sea fleet and ports of both states; (b) ensuring maritime safety, including the safety of ships, crew members, cargo and passengers; (c) enhanced protection of the marine environment; (d) the expansion of ties and the exchange of experience on the issues of economy, science and technology in the field of maritime transport; and (e) exchange of views on the activities of international organizations dealing with commercial shipping issues and participation in international agreements on maritime transport.
