Government Resolution No. 604 validating the Regulation on protection of groundwater objects.

This Regulation establishes the procedure for implementing measures to protect underground waterbodies. Protection of underground waterbodies is carried out by carrying out measures to prevent pollution, clogging of underground waterbodies, depletion of their reserves, as well as the elimination of the consequences of these processes and includes: (a) measures to prevent the entry of pollutants into groundwater bodies; (b) measures to eliminate the consequences of pollution, contamination of underground water bodies and depletion of their reserves; (c) monitoring the chemical, microbiological and radiation state of underground waterbodies; (d) monitoring the level of underground waterbodies; and (e) development of mineral deposits, including drinking, technical, medicinal, thermal and industrial water deposits. Preventive measures include: (a) placement of newly created facilities that are potential sources of pollution and/ or depletion of groundwater reserves, taking into account the minimization of adverse anthropogenic impacts; (b) preventing the entry of pollutants from the earth's surface, from settling tanks and storage ponds, underground structures (sewage collectors and pipelines) into underground waterbodies by installing protective engineering structures; (c) equipment at facilities that are potential sources of pollution of groundwater bodies, observation wells; and (d) monitoring the chemical, microbiological and radiation state of underground waterbodies.
