Governmental Decree No. 1488 validating the Regulation on the procedure for compensation for losses caused to the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation, associations of indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation and persons belonging to the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation, as a result of damage to the original habitat of indigenous small-numbered peoples of the Russian Federation by the economic activities of organizations of all forms of ownership, as well as by natural persons.

This Governmental Decree establishes the procedure for compensation for losses caused to the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation, associations of indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation and persons belonging to the indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation, as a result of damage to the original habitat of indigenous small-numbered peoples of the Russian Federation by the economic activities of organizations of all forms of ownership, as well as by natural persons. Compensation for losses is carried out on the basis of agreements on compensation for losses concluded by economic entities and councils of representatives of small peoples, created on public principles under the executive authorities of the constituent entities (regions) of the Russian Federation for the protection of the rights and legal interests of indigenous peoples. It is allowed to conclude one agreement with several business entities carrying out economic activities within one territory in which small-numbered indigenous peoples live. The agreement is concluded at the initiative of one of the parties.
