Abstract
Veterinary Department is a structural subdivision of the Ministry of Agriculture entitled with the organization of the functioning of veterinary service as regards the prevention of animal disease, inspection of quality control and safety of animal products and ensuring protection of the population from disease common to human beings and animals. The main tasks of the Veterinary Department are: 1) elaboration and carrying out Federal Special Programs as regards the prevention and liquidation of particularly perilous animal disease requiring the imposition of quarantine, veterinary service planning and inspection of safe animal products; 2) participation in the formation courses for veterinary experts, drugs manufacturing and technical research in the field of veterinary; 3) control over the strict observance of the Russian veterinary legislation; 4) protection of the territory of the Russian Federation from delivery and spreading of infectious animal disease of foreign origin; 5) jrganization and improvement of the efficiency of state and departmental veterinary and sanitary supervision.
