Abstract
This National Standard sets out the rules to which bodies certifying halal products, processes and services shall comply and the requirements for carrying out halal certification activities. Halal certification is the activity of confirming the conformity of various facilities with halal requirements carried out by a third party. The halal certification body shall undertake all actions necessary to assess the conformity of halal facilities in accordance with the requirements of the certification scheme. The halal certification body shall define the scope of its certification activities in categories of halal products, services or processes (e.g. primary production - breeding of animals for meat or other products), food processing, production of packaging materials, etc.) and sectors in accordance with Annex B (processing and production of foodstuffs of animal and plant origin, potable water, slaughtering, packaging). The certificate of conformity is valid for a specified period, but not more than three years, and may be suspended or terminated if non-compliance with the requirements confirmed during certification is detected.
