This Order validates the Regulation on the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Botanical Garden of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences as protected natural area of federal significance (located in Ekaterinburg), defines tasks, scientific profile of the institution as botanical. The main purpose of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Botanical Garden of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences shall be performance of fundamental and applied research in the field of botany, plant ecology, forestry, plant taxonomy, plant protection, conservation of nature. The main tasks of the Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution the Botanical Garden of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences shall be as follows: (a) development of scientific foundations and methods of plant introduction, scientific substantiation for the introduction in cultivation of new promising plants for various economic purposes; (b) development of effective methods for the preservation and reproduction of the gene pool of the Ural flora and flora of adjacent territories, including substantiation for the development of the system of protected natural areas and protection of rare and endangered plant species; and (c) development of scientific foundations and technologies for the use of forest renewable biological resources ensuring their sustainable reproduction.
