Order No. 506-r of 2002 of the Head of Administration of the Astrakhan Region regarding carrying out special operation “Spawning”.

Head of Administration, for the purpose of ensuring conservation of sturgeon fish species, suppression of poaching and creation of favourable conditions for spawning migration of sturgeon fish species in the delta of the Volga and increase of the efficiency of their natural reproduction, orders to carry out in the period from the 20th of May to the 10th of June and in the period from the 20th of July to the 20th of August of 2002 special operation “Spawning”. Marine coastguard brigade and North Caspian state marine inspection must carry out regularly melioration trawling of the ways of migration of sturgeon fish species to the spawning places for the purpose of extraction from water and confiscation of the prohibited fishing gear. Regional Fisheries Administration of the Astrakhan Region must ensure control over the functioning of fishing control organizations as regards the observance of the imposed regime of fishery and protection of biodiversity within fishing area on the way of migration of sturgeon fish species in the delta of the Volga.
