Abstract
These Rules for the care of forests establish the procedure for carrying out forest care activities in all forest areas of the Russian Federation. Forest care is carried out taking into account the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of environmental protection, as well as forest legislation. In forests located in protected natural areas, forest care is carried out in accordance with the regulations on the corresponding protected natural area. Forest care is the implementation of measures aimed at increasing forest productivity and preserving their useful functions (cutting down some trees, shrubs, agroforestry and other measures). Forest care through agroforestry activities on land where reforestation is carried out, restored, reclaimed lands, is carried out in order to create protective forests plantings that ensure the preservation and increase of anti-erosion, water-regulating, sanitary and hygienic functions of forests. Forest care activities include fellings carried out to care for forest plantations; agroforestry activities; other activities, including renewal of forest plantations; reorganization of forest plantations; reconstruction of forest plantations; silviculture and forest protection care of forests; care for reforestation, undergrowth and other valuable components of plantings (objects of care); recreational and landscape forest care; auxiliary types of forest care; special types of forest care. Forest care activities are carried out taking into account the intended purpose of operational forests, categories of protective forests and especially protective forest areas. In production forests, forest care activities are aimed at increasing forest productivity and obtaining high-quality timber and non-wood forest products. In production forests, care is taken for target tree species of artificial and natural origin, the wood of which is most in demand. Target tree species should be established in the forest plan of a constituent entity of the Russian Federation based on an analysis of the production structure and demand for wood. In protective forests and in especially protected areas of forests, forest care measures are aimed at preserving and restoring the environment-forming, water-protective, protective, sanitary-hygienic, health-improving and useful functions of forests. For protective forests and especially protected forest areas, the target species are tree species that meet the intended purpose of protective forests and especially protective forest areas.
