Regional Government Decision No. 359 validating Regional State Program “Development of the Arctic zone of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and indigenous peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for 2020 - 2024.”

Program goals: formation of conditions for balanced spatial development of the Arctic zone of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and improving the quality of life of the population, taking into account the socio-economic potential of the districts; sustainable development of indigenous peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Program objectives: creating conditions for safe and comfortable living of the population; implementation of projects to increase the economic potential of the Arctic districts; ensuring the ethnocultural development of indigenous peoples of the North, protecting their ancestral habitat and traditional way of life; scientific and organizational support for Arctic projects and projects for the sustainable development of indigenous peoples of the North of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
Expected results of the Program: reducing the level of registered unemployment in the Arctic zone of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) to 2.1% by 2024; achieving the number of births per 1000 population in the Arctic zone of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) not lower than the regional average; an increase in the number of representatives of indigenous peoples of the North engaged in traditional economic activities by 7.5% by 2024 (from 1,981 people in 2018 to 2,131 in 2024).
