Prime Ministerial Order Nº 126/03 of 25/10/2010 determining the responsibilities, organisation and functioning of committees in charge of the environment conservation and protection.

This Order determines the responsibilities, organization and functioning of Committees Responsible for conservation and protection of the Environment at Provincial, Kigali City, District, Sector and Cell levels, hereafter referred as “Environment Committees”.
The Order describes the responsibilities of the Environment Committees, among which here is the task to ensure the implementation of the laws, policies, programmes and plans relating to the protection, conservation and promotion of the environment in Rwanda; to monitor issues relating to awareness raising of the population on environment protection, and proper land use; to ensure that persons who destroy the environment are pursued by the competent institutions. The responsibilities are splitted at various territorial levels: at the Provincial and Kigali City levels, at the District level, at the Sector level, at the Cell level.
The Order further regulates the organization and the composition of the Environment Committees at the different territorial levels as well as their functioning.
