Abstract
The Rwanda Private Sector Development Strategy for 2013-2018 aims to boost private sector growth and investment in the country. One of the key challenges identified is the limited access to finance, particularly for small businesses. The strategy emphasizes the importance of increasing private sector investment to drive economic growth and productivity. The document also highlights initiatives such as the Hanga Umurimo business plan competition, which aims to create new enterprises and jobs by linking business plans to financing institutions. Additionally, efforts are being made to enhance cross-border market infrastructure and address non-tariff barriers to trade. The Policy is designed in 7 Chapters as follow: Introduction (1); Overview of the Private Sector in Rwanda (2); Constraints to investment and growth (3); Private Sector Development Strategy (4); Implementation of the Private Sector Development Strategy (5); Monitoring and evaluation (6); and Cost and Financing of the Private Sector Development Strategy (7).
