Abstract
"Continental shelf" means the sea bed and subsoil of those submarine areas adjacent to the coasts of the islands of Solomon Islands but beyond the territorial limits of Solomon Islands, to a depth of two hundred metres below the surface of the sea, or, beyond that limit, to where the depth of the superjacent waters admits of exploitation of the natural resources of those areas. Rights of exploration and exploitation of Continental Shelf are vested in the Crown. Any act or omission which: a) takes place on, under or above an installation in a designated area or any waters within five hundred metres of such an installation; and b) would, if taking place in any part of Solomon Islands, constitute an offence under any law in force in Solomon Islands, shall be treated for the purpose of that law as taking place in Solomon Islands. Proceedings for any offence under this Act including an offence under any other law applied by or under this Act and anything which is an offence by virtue of section 5(1) may be taken, and such offence may for all incidental purposes be treated as having been committed, in any place in Solomon Islands.
