Electricity Act, no. 13 of 2023

This Act, divided into twelve parts, provide for electricity related activities in the country and related matters. The Act defines the following relevant terms: autogenerator; consumer; distribution; electricity generation; environmental legislation; Integrated Electricity Planning; power purchase agreement; Public Utilities Corporation; renewable energy sources; tariff. The Act covers the following matters: electricity strategy and planning, including: drafting and content of integrated electricity plan, approval and effects of the plan; activities and organisation of the electricity sector; preparation of environmental impact studies; transmission, distribution and supply of electricity; inspections by the Commission or authorised persons; licences and authorisations; tariff settings; consumer rights and protection; dispute resolution; access to electrical facilities; offences.
