Environment Protection (Prohibition of Balloons) Regulations, 2021 (S.I. 72 of 2021).

These Regulations are made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 80 read with section 41(c) of the Environment Protection Act, 2016. Regulation 3 prohibits the manufacturing, distribution, possession, sale and use of balloons within Seychelles. The Regulations state that from the date of publication, the use of balloons on beaches shall be prohibited. Regulation 4 exempts the application of Regulations to balloons used for meteorological services. Regulation 5 makes provision for penalty for contravention of Regulations that includes fine and imprisonment. Regulation 6 provides for a fixed penalty in case of any person believed to be in possession of balloons and upon paying such penalty, the person shall be discharged from liability to be convicted under Regulation 5.
